Oongkalkada Incorporated has been granted an Indigenous Regional Development Program $500,000.00 grant to establish a tourism training centre through the WA Department of Regional Development. The centre will provide a fully functioning world class Indigenous tourism training facility where potential operators can train in a real life commercial tourism environment and will operate as a commercial tourism venture.

The project Project Manager, Jo Camilleri announced the Nyikina and Mangala traditional owners are very excited about the project, "The training will give the opportunity for trainees to earn an income by learning on the job and the centre will provide a hub from which tour operators from throughout the region can source their customers. It will provide a recognised and nationally accredited qualification in a reality based environment. The best thing about this project is the training delivery will involve traditional owners providing reality based training on the job and on traditional country".
